Legislation Update

It is absolutely VITAL that we stay involved with the legislation moving through Tennessee. ESPECIALLY now! It’s very easy to become distracted during the current events, but we can’t allow that to happen. Below is the list of the current Bills being pushed through the State Legislature. They are specifically firearm related. However, there are many other Bills you need to be aware of. Contact your State Representatives and voice your support OR opposition to the Bill/s.


Pay particular attention to the wording on this one folks:

As introduced, it repeals the law that allows handgun carry permit holders to transport or store a firearm or firearm ammunition in the permit holder’s motor vehicle while on or utilizing a public or private parking area if the firearm or firearm ammunition is kept from ordinary observation. – Amends TCA Title 39; Title 49 and Title 50.

As introduced, creates a civil action against any person or government entity that infringes upon a person’s right to bear arms under the Tennessee or United States Constitutions; requires the person or entity to be liable for actual or statutory damages, punitive damages, attorney’s fees, and court costs. – Amends TCA Title 4, Chapter 54 and Title 8, Chapter 47.

As introduced, permits a person to carry a handgun in a concealed manner; permits a person carrying a handgun in a concealed manner to carry in parks, higher education campuses, and areas posted by local governments in the same manner permitted by handgun carry permit holders. – Amends TCA Section 10-7-504; Section 33-6-413; Section 38-8-116; Title 39; Section 50-1-312; Title 70, Chapter 4, Part 1 and Section 70-5-101.
